This series was organized by the Modelling and Projections Programme of the Caribbean Cooperative Measurement, Reporting and Verification Hub (MRV Hub) in collaboration with Caribbean Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE), the UNFCCC RCC-St. George’s, and GHG modelling tool developers.
An overview of each session can be found below. Select the headings to access the webinar recordings for each session.
Date: 29 April 2021
This session introduced the GHG emission modelling and projection tools. These tools are essential for the planning of mitigation actions, especially in the renewable energy sector.
Date: 4 May 2021
The second session of the series introduced one of the GHG Modeling tools developed by the UNEP-DTU Partnership known as GACMO. Through this session, the capabilities, and functions of GACMO were introduced and the data and other requirements for operation were identified and various case studies on its operation were analyzed.
Date: 18 May 2021
This session introduced a GHG modelling tool developed by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) known as LEAP. Through this session, the capabilities and functions of LEAP were introduced, the data and other requirements for operation were identified and various case studies on its operation were analyzed.
Date: 15 June 2021
The fourth session introduced a GHG modelling tool developed by NewClimate Institute (NewClimate) known as PROSPECTS+. It is one of the tools under the Climate action Outcomes and Mitigation Policy ASSessment (COMPASS) toolbox of NewClimate which supports decision-makers, analysts, and civil society in assessing and understanding the impacts of climate action and policies.
Date: 29 June 2021
This session provides participants with guidance for considering the requirements necessary when selecting an appropriate GHG modelling tool that meets their needs and capabilities. This session is complemented by a guide that compares GHG modeling and projection tools, created by the MRV Hub.
WEBINAR #6: Introduction to FAO suite of tools for modelling and projection of GHG emissions in AFOLU sector
Date: 6 July 2021
This session introduces a suite of tools available for GHG modelling and projections in the AFOLU sector, developed by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). This session is presented in partnership with FAO. Through this session, data, and other requirements for operation of the tools are identified and the capabilities of the suite of tools were demonstrated using case studies.
Date: 28 July 2021
This session introduces one of the GHG modeling tools developed by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)’s REmap programme, the IRENA REmap. The Excel-based REmap tool provides a simplified but dynamic accounting framework to create and evaluate energy system developments and costs at sector (power, transport, industry, buildings) and technology level.
